This is my second post in a row related to buying gifts, but considering that Black Friday is on the approach, and Christmas right after, it seems only appropriate that a little more emphasis be placed on this topic. Let me preface this post by saying that I’m not the most imaginative shopper, I can’t pick very unique gifts, I’ve tried in the past and failed miserably. I suspect that I’m not the only person with this issue since the gift card industry has grown considerably over the past decade. I remember a time when they didn’t even exist, and now your local drugstores are selling them on behalf of the restaurants and stores in the surrounding area. Let’s face it, they are sometimes viewed as a cop out, but a sociably acceptable one! Heck, I have a ton in my drawer that are still waiting to get used, but they always do.
For far too many years I was purchasing gift cards as presents and I was paying full price to boot! Do yourself a favor and find an online seller of discounted gift cards, there are plenty of reputable ones out there. Be it Home Depot, AMC, or Ruby Tuesdays, you will be able to find a gift card for just about anything you want. The best part is, they aren’t dollar for dollar purchases. I’ve bought gift cards to the the local movie theater for 90 cents on the dollar. Sure that may not seem like a lot, but start considering just how much you spend on gift cards already each year and you will be shocked at just how much you can save. Likewise, even tangible gifts like home improvement items from Home Depot can be bought for cheaper if you simply go online and buy discounted gift card to use for yourself prior to making the in-store purchase. There are plenty of nifty ways to save money, especially when it’s money you were planning on spending to begin with.
